Here is an approximate breakdown of percentages for grading. They are subject to minor modifications.

 

6th – 8th Grades

9th Grade

75%    quizzes, tests, projects

15%    homework

10%    class preparation   

60%    quizzes, tests

15%    homework

15%    computer lab

10%    class preparation 

 

Assessments will be given almost weekly, and over the course of the trimester, will cover the following. Assessments must be completed in pencil to receive maximum credit. Students must carefully demonstrate steps to receive partial credit on incorrectly solved problems.

Students are required to complete corrections on all assessment grades less than 80. Incorrectly problems must be redone, with all steps carefully demonstrated.

 

Homework will be checked and/or collected regularly. Homework will be graded out of ten points using the following criteria. Two points will be awarded automatically. Points will be deducted for late assignments. If a student has more than three assignments not submitted, only the three most recent assignments will be accepted for grading.  Any assignment that is more than 21 days late will not be accepted.

Projects are generally completed on the computer and saved on the student’s files. Students are encouraged to complete projects at school or at home. Due dates will be given in advance.

 

The class preparation grade covers student preparedness, behavior, and cooperation. Students are expected to come to class on time with a pen or pencil, notebook, and homework completed. Students are expected to engage in the activities of the day. Students are encouraged to enhance the learning atmosphere of the class.
